SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Navid Zar Chimi, an Iranian polypropylene (PP) producer, has received a licence from the government to build a 1.3m tonne/year ethane cracker in Assaluyeh, a company official said on Monday.
The licence from the Ministry of Petroleum would allow the company to buy ethane gas feedstock from a nearby refinery, he added.
Navid Zar Chimi, a private company, was still evaluating the feedstock pricing, the official said.
Derivatives of the proposed cracker could include polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and vinyl acetate monomer (VAM), he said, adding that the project could take about four years to complete.
The company would benefit from its experience in building its PP plant, which was completed in three years, the official said.
