LONDON (ICIS news)--Aarhus Karlshamn (AAK) has acquired the de-inking chemicals business unit of Ciba Specialty Chemicals in Finland for an undisclosed sum, the Sweden-based specialty vegetable fats producer said on Monday.

The de-inking chemicals unit, with an annual turnover of Swedish krona (SKr) 25m ($4m/€3m), would be moved to AAK’s site in Karlshamn, Sweden, said AAK.

“The growth in special fatty acids for de-inking is expected to increase globally, and in central and eastern Europe this growth is estimated to be more than 10% in the coming years,” said AAK in a statement.

Specialty fatty acids are used in the paper industry where recycled output forms part of the production, it added.
