NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--Indian state trading house MMTC Limited said on Monday that it was seeking global offers for the supply of 25,000 tonnes of ammonium sulphate fertilizer.

Of the total solicited quantity, 15,000 tonnes would be delivered at Tuticorin port in Tamil Nadu and the balance of 10,000 tonnes at Kakinada port in Andhra Pradesh.

The fertilizer can be of either of steel grade or caprolactam grade but should preferably be white in colour, according to the product specifications mentioned in tender document.

In India, two fertilizer and petrochemical companies manufacture ammonium sulphate as co-product of production process for nylon intermediate caprolactam. A few steel companies also produce ammonium sulphate as a value-added product of its integrated steel production process.

The deadline for submission of bids is 22 October, with bidders needing to keep their offers valid until 5 November.

In August, Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT) solicited global offers for the supply 25,000 tonnes/year of ammonium sulphate (caprolactam grade) following the closure of its caprolactam plant.

Indian does not provide any subsidy on this fertilizer on the ground that it has low nitrogen content compared with urea and diammonium phosphate.
