HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Dow Chemical denied claims on Monday from 12 Nicaraguan banana workers who alleged in a lawsuit that exposure to pesticides decades ago caused them to become infertile.
The workers sued Dow and US food producer Dole Food in California state court.
The workers alleged that they became sterile as a result of working with the pesticide DBCP in Nicaraguan banana plantations during the 1970s and 1980s, media reports said.
Dow said in a statement that the workers did not come into contact with enough DBCP to become sterile.
