LONDON (ICIS news)--A pipeline incident brought down butyl glycol (BG) and butyl di-glycol (BDG) production at Shell’s plant in Pernis, the Netherlands, a company source said on Thursday.

The fire in a hydrogen pipeline last Friday meant feedstock ethylene oxide (EO) could not be produced, said the source.

The company expected to be able to resume BG and BDG production this week, it added.

Combined butyl glycol ether production at Shell’s Pernis site was estimated by market sources to be 60,000 tonnes/year.
