BUENOS AIRES (ICIS news)--Austria’s BioDiesel International (BDI) is actively negotiating the development and construction of biodiesel plants with companies in Argentina, a company source said on Thursday.

Jordi Vaquer, a BDI delegate to the 18-19 Biodiesel Congress in Buenos Aires told ICIS news from the sidelines that some of the company's largest projects could be built in Argentina.

“This shows the huge potential of Argentine market,” Vaquer said in Spanish.

BDI is also active in Europe where the company is building facilities with installed capacities up to 25,000 tonnes/year. In Argentina, by comparison, the initial proposals are to build plants with 200,000 tonnes/year capacity, Vaquer said.

He said BDI is interested in exploring opportunities in Brazil and Chile as well.

BDI is one of the world’s leading suppliers of complete biodiesel production plants. The services the company provides include plant planning, construction and start-up and subsequent after-sales service.
