Middle East chem outlook “unparalleled” - Exxon

TORONTO (ICIS news)--The Middle East offers unparalleled opportunities for chemicals production because of its advantaged oil and natural gas-based feedstock position and proximity to Asia’s growth markets, ExxonMobil Chemical president Michael Dolan said on Thursday.

However, these opportunities were contingent on a policy environment that welcomed international trade and investment, and one that fostered global competition and free enterprise, Dolan said.

He was addressing delegates at the 16th Annual Arab-US Policymakers Conference in Washington, an event hosted by the National Council on US-Arab Relations.

“The Middle East clearly enjoys an unparalleled advantaged energy and feedstock position,” said Dolan.

“By integrating chemicals into the bigger resource management strategy, we see equally unparalleled opportunity for the region to benefit from proximity to growing markets in Asia,” he said.
