SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Indonesia’s sole monoethylene glycol (MEG) maker Polychem has successfully restarted its smaller No 1 line after it was shut 10 days ago due to a shortage of feedstock ethylene, a source close to the company said on Friday.
"The No 1 line will achieve full operating rates later tonight," he said, referring to the 90,000 tonne/year MEG line that was shut on 16 October.
The larger No 2 line with a 125,000 tonne/year capacity was also shut briefly for a day due to the ethylene shortage and has been running at reduced rates.
The lack of available semi-refrigerated ethylene carriers in the southeast Asia region had resulted in numerous delivery delays in October.
