HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Brazilian petrochemicals maker Braskem plans to perform scheduled maintenance at one of the company's olefins units in May 2008, a company source said on Tuesday.

The turnaround at Braskem’s 630,000 tonne/year (1.38bn lb/year) Camacari cracker in Bahia is expected to last 30 days, according to the source.

Braskem has a second olefins unit in Camacari with capacity for 650,000 tonnes/year.

Copesul, an olefins maker controlled by Braskem, is also expected to shut down one of its units for a 30-day turnaround next year, the source said.

The company’s 685,000 tonne/year Triunfo cracker in Rio Grande do Sul is scheduled to be taken down in April 2008, a Copesul official said.

Copesul has second cracker in Triunfo with capacity for 450,000 tonnes/year.
