LONDON (ICIS news)--European polycarbonate (PC) manufacturer Bayer has announced a price increase target of €0.15/kg ($0.22/kg) for 1 November after high raw material costs have reduced profits, market sources said on Wednesday.
The Bayer move, originally announced last week, would not affect customers until the end of their contracted period, said the spokesperson.
Another producer said that while the high crude price had not yet filtered through to the PC market, margins were already thinned from increasing upstream costs.
It was planning to announce an increase for the next quarter but had not decided on its target.
Consumers in the PC market did not expect prices to rise due to healthy availability.
Fourth-quarter prices were between €2.96-3.21/kg FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest ?xml:namespace>
