SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Thailand’s IRPC plans to shut its naphtha cracker in the fourth quarter of 2009 for maintenance, three years after its last turnaround in 2006, a company source said on Friday.

Its 350,000 tonne/year cracker at Mab Ta Phut, Rayong province, was expected to be shut down for around 30 days, the source said.

The cracker was last shut for regular maintenance in November 2006.

IPRC, formerly called Thai Petrochemical Industry, operates one of southeast Asia’s largest petrochemical complexes. A consortium led by Thai energy major PTT holds a 61.5% stake in the company.
