LONDON (ICIS news)--Kaucuk has been forced to delay the restart of its downstream styrene complex in Kralupy in the Czech Republic because of problems at the Litvinov ethylene cracker, a company source confirmed on Friday.
“The plant is not running because the start up of the Litvinov cracker was delayed,” the source said. “We have big tanks of ethyl benzene so we are not too worried”?xml:namespace>
The 170,000 tonne/year styrene complex closed on 24 September during the planned shutdown at Unipetrol’s cracker in Litvinov and had been expected to come back on line last week.
It was previously reported Kaucuk’s 87,000 tonne/year PS (polystyrene) and 70,000 tonne/year expandable polystyrene plants (EPS) would be closed for just two weeks during the shutdown.
