HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US bioplastic producer Cereplast has released a new high-temperature-resistant thermoforming resin called CP-TH-6000, the company said on Monday.
Earlier bioplastics had lower temperature resistance, limiting their usage, Cereplast said.
Temperature resistance for CP-TH-6000 is 155ºF (68ºC), several degrees above similar bioplastics, the company said.
CP-TH-6000 is based on polylactic acid (PLA) from NatureWorks, a joint venture of Cargill and Teijin. Standalone PLA has a heat resistance of about 105ºF.
