SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Daelim Industrial plans to shut its No 3 linear low density PE (LLDPE) plant at Yeosu in mid December for a 10-day turnaround, a source close to the South Korean producer said on Thursday.

The 140,000 tonne/year plant switched from producing high density polyethylene (HDPE) to metallocene LLDPE in the second quarter as part of the producer’s efforts to diversify its product range.

Its No 1 plant with a 130,000 tonne/year capacity producing large blow moulding and its No 2 plant with the same capacity producing yarn grade HDPE will operate at normal rates during this period, the source said.

Other key metollocene LLDPE producers in Asia include Siam Polyethylene and Japan Polyethylene.
