SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--Tianjin Chemical plant has started up its new 33,000 tonne/year epichlorohydrin (ECH) plant for a trial run on Thursday, a company source said.

The unit, located in Tianjin, northern China, is expected to take around one week to produce on-spec products, the source said.

So far, ECH prices were flat from last week, at CNY19,000/tonne ($2,554/tonne) DEL (delivered) in eastern China, industry sources said.

However, industry players do not expect prices to rise since demand from the downstream epoxy resin market have been lacklustre.

Tianjin Chemical has another 28,000 tonne/year ECH unit located at the same site.

The company is a subsidiary of Tianjin Bohai Chemical Industry Group.
