SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--BP Malaysia plans to shut its 600,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant at Kuantan for three weeks after the weekend of 10-11 November, sources close to the company said on Thursday.

“The shutdown is mainly for maintenance,” said one of the sources.

BP is the world’s largest producer of PTA. Besides the Malaysian facility, which is situated on the eastern coast, the energy major also has units in other Asian countries including China, Indonesia and Taiwan.
