SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--LG Chem, the South Korean chemical major, has cut its bisphenol-A (BPA) operating rate for a scheduled maintenance, a company official said on Friday.
Maintenance at the its 120,000 tonne/year facility at Yeosu, will be completed by end-December, he added.
"We have been running the plant at a reduced capacity due to [a scheduled] exchanging [of the] catalyst in the BPA plant reactor since 12 November," the source said, while declining to specify the exact operating rate of the line.
LG Chem has had few spot BPA cargoes for sale following the start-up of LG Dow Polycarbonate’s second 65,000 tonne/year polycarbonate (PC) line in August.
Other BPA majors in Asia include Nan Ya Plastics, Kumho P&B Chemical, Nippon Steel and Mitsubishi Chemical.
