BUENOS AIRES (ICIS news)--Brazil's Petroquimica Paulinia project is on track to start production of polypropylene (PP) in the second quarter of 2008, an official at state-controlled Petrobras said on Monday.
Installation of production units that are "state of the art" is well advanced, Petrobras petrochemical projects implementation manager Paulo Turazzi de Carvalho told delegates at the annual Latin American Petrochemical Association (APLA) meeting in Buenos Aires.
The Petroquimica Paulinia project will produce 300,000 tonnes/year of PP.
The total investment in the project is $312m (€212m).
Petroquimica Paulinia is 60% owned by Brazilian chemical manufacturer Braskem and 40% owned by Petrobras Quimica (Petroquisa), a subsidiary of Petrobras.
