LONDON (ICIS news)--Specialists were investigating technical problems at OMV’s Burghausen cracker in Germany on Thursday before indicating when a restart after expansion work would be possible, said a company source.

The cracker was due to restart on 19 November but this has so far been postponed and the unit remained offline, added the source.

The nameplate capacity at the cracker has been lifted by 100,000 tonnes/year to 450,000 tonnes/year as a result of the work, which began at the start of October.

No effect was reported on the external market, but the issue had impacted other units on the same site, which includes a refinery and Borealis’s derivative polypropylene production.

OMV also operates a cracker in Schwechat, Austria.
