NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--Indian state trading house MMTC Limited issued on Friday a global tender notice for the import of unspecified quantity of urea for “earliest arrivals” at Indian ports and latest by 10 January 2008.
The deadline for submission of bids is 28 November 2007, with offers valid until 5 December.
The tenders have been timed to take care of any upsurge in demand for application of urea on standing winter crops such as wheat.
Urea sales during the summer cropping season (April-September 2007) increased by 9.62% to 12.46m tonnes from 11.36m tonnes in the corresponding period of preceding year, according to a government official.
Bidders must clearly indicate the specific quantity offered and MMTC has said deliveries should be at any of the 15 ports on the west and east coasts mentioned in the tender document and excluding Mundra in
The urea should bulk prilled/granular fertilizer grade with a minimum 46% nitrogen content delivered on a FOBT (free on board trimmed)/C&FFO (credit & freight free out) basis. Offers made on C&F basis are liable to be rejected, it said.
