TORONTO (ICIS news)--Dow Chemical will invest in Italy to expand its polyurethane (PU) research and development (R&D) centre and capacity for STYROFOAM insulation products near Milan, it said on Wednesday.

The R&D facility at Correggio would become Dow’s global centre of PU systems formulations and applications technology, it said.

The company would also invest $20m (€13.4m) to boost STYROFOAM capacity in Correggio by 30% by 2009, it said

Following the expansion the facility will employ 200 workers, up from the current 170, Dow said, but it did not disclose current or planned capacities in terms of tonnes/year.
