MUMBAI (ICIS news)--Lonza has started up its newly acquired 400 tonne/year facility in Shawinigan, Canada, which will produce Pro-K, a fat soluble synthetic vitamin, to support the continued growth of its animal nutrition business, the Swiss company said on Friday.

"We will provide to our customers a quality product [Pro-K] at competitive terms. This acquisition demonstrates our long-term commitment to Pro-K," said Roman Quinter, head of Lonza’s nutrition business unit.

Lonza acquired the facilities from Canada's SAM Electron Technologies in May and the company said they would be expanded to achieve higher capacities.

The company is a major supplier to the pharmaceutical, healthcare and life science industries.
