INEOS NOVA to repair styrene plant in Texas

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--INEOS NOVA said on Wednesday that maintenance repairs at its 770,000 tonne/year styrene monomer plant in Bayport, Texas, were ahead of schedule, and it expects to have a completion date soon.

The company said the plant was shut during the week ended 23 November for unplanned maintenance. 

Current styrene spot prices were said to be at 57.50-58.00 cents/lb ($1,268-1,279/tonne) FOB (free on board) USG (US Gulf).

INEOS NOVA is a styrenics joint venture established by INEOS and NOVA Chemicals.

Other major US styrene producers include Total, Lyondell, Dow Chemical and Chevron Phillips Chemical.
