SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--China’s largest bisphenol-A (BPA) producer Bluestar New Chemical Materials will commission a 90,000 tonne/year BPA unit in Nantong, Jiangsu, in the second half of next year, a company source said on Friday.

“We are planning to start-up our Nantong plant on schedule in the second half of 2008,” the source said in Mandarin, adding the plant would not be able to run earlier due to technical issues.

Bluestar has two other BPA facilities located in Wuxi, Jiangsu, with capacities of 16,000 tonnes/year and 25,000 tonnes/year respectively. They are currently running at 60-70% of their nameplate capacity until the end of December due to ongoing maintenance works.
