LONDON (ICIS news)--European chemical companies were facing further disruption after French rail workers on Friday announced another rail strike, the second in less than a month.

Members of several unions who are in negotiations with SNCF said they will go on a 36-hour strike, the train operator said.

The industrial action, which is planned to start at 8pm local time on 11 December, is being held in protest against proposed reforms to pension plans for rail workers.

It is still unclear how many unions plan to ask their members to participate, but SNCF warned the strike would disrupt services.

French rail workers last went on strike on 13 November, disrupting services until 23 November over similar concerns.

The strike caused logistical problems for some companies in the petrochemical industry, which had problem moving feedstocks into factories and products out of them.
