SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Taiwan’s largest polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle chip producer Far Eastern Textile (FET) restarted its 370,000 tonne/year plant on 8 December after completing a planned turnaround, a company source said.

"The checks by our power supplier, Taiwan Power, on the power grid equipment on our plant’s premises in Taoyuan were completed on Friday, said the executive from FET in Mandarin on Monday.

"During the shutdown, we also took the opportunity to do some debottlenecking on the facility’s equipment," he added. The unit’s capacity was expanded by 20,000 tonnes/year.

FET is offering PET bottle chips for December above $1,440/tonne (€979.20/tonne) FOB (free on board) Taiwan.

Prices of PET bottle chips from Taiwan were assessed at $1,380-1,410/tonne FOB Taiwan for the week ended 7 December on the back of firmer offers from producers and traders, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
