Twelve business units will be consolidated into six during the first six months of 2008, Evonik said in a statement, while the existing technology specialties, consumer solutions and specialty materials reporting segments will not be affected.
The new structure will increase market orientation and efficiency, it added.
The six new business units will be base chemicals; inorganic materials; consumer specialties; health and nutrition; coatings and additives; and performance polymers.
Manfred Spindler is also leaving the managing board of Evonik Degussa but has joined its supervisory board.
