SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Iran’s Arya Sasol has achieved full, on-spec production at its new 1m tonne/year cracker located at Assaluyeh, sources close to the company said on Tuesday.
The company has also started feeding its downstream units from Monday, added sources close to the company.
“The cracker achieved on-spec production a few days back, and ethylene (C2) had been fed to the downstream plants,” said one of the source.
Downstream of the cracker is a 300,000 tonne/year low-density polyethylene (LDPE) plant and a swing facility producing both medium-density PE and high-density PE.
On-spec production at these two units has yet to be achieved, said another source.
Ethylene is also being fed into Farsa Chemicals’ 400,000 tonne/year monoethylene glycol (MEG) unit, Pars Petrochemical’s 600,000 tonne/year styrene monomer facility and other neighbouring plants at Assaluyeh.
Start up of the MEG and styrene plants is now scheduled for early next year.
The cracker started up in August this year, but ran at a reduced rate of 60-65% of nameplate capacity until this week.
