LONDON (ICIS news)--Petrochemicals, basic inorganics and polymers are suffering most from the increased price of oil, the European chemical industry association (Cefic) said on Tuesday.
“The oil price has risen considerably in 2007,” Cefic said in its November chemical trends report, but added that “chemical producer prices (excluding pharmaceuticals) increased 3.2% over the period January to September 2007."
Although European chemical industry managers in November were more optimistic about production expectations for the coming month than in October, their confidence is still lower than it has been on average in the last 18 months, Cefic said.
Cefic said production in the period January to September 2007 had grown 2.7% compared with the same period in 2006.
