HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US phthalic anhydride (PA) imports in October totalled 973,000 lb (441 tonnes), a 19% drop from 1.2m lb a year earlier, the US International Trade Commission (USITC) said on Wednesday.
However, PA imports in October nearly quadrupled when compared with shipments totalling 270,000 lb in September, the USITC said.
Imports of US PA in the year through October were at 11m lb, a 46% drop from 21m lb in the same months of 2006, the USITC said.
US PA prices in December were assessed at 60-65 cents/lb ($1,323-1,433/tonne), up by 2.5 cents/lb from November, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
Producers of PA in the US include ExxonMobil, BASF, Koppers and Stepan.
