HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US exports of polypropylene (PP) in January-October were 1,714,139 tonnes, up by 41% compared with the same period in 2006, according to data from the US International Trade Commission (ITC) released on Wednesday.

US PP exports rose for all destinations, but countries like Turkey, Peru, Brazil, Morocco and China have noticeably increased PP purchases from the US.

The rise in PP exports to Brazil is significant because Brazil is an exporting country. A declining dollar and increased demand in emerging markets were seen as the main reasons for the increase in PP exports.

The table below shows a summary of PP export statistics for October compared with the previous month and year.
