Evonik to build Chongqing cyanuric chloride plant

LONDON (ICIS news)--Evonik Industries has laid the cornerstone for a new 60,000 tonne/year cyanuric chloride plant in Chongqing, western China, the German specialty chemicals producer said on Monday.

 

The project was undertaken by the company’s joint venture Degussa Sanzheng (Yingkou) Fine Chemicals, in which Evonik holds a 65% stake.

 

The €24m facility was scheduled to be completed by the end of 2008, employing 280 people, said Evonik.

 

Cyanuric chloride is an intermediate used in agricultural applications and in the textile, paper and plastics industries.
