LONDON (ICIS news)--Polimeri Europa hopes to restart its high impact polystyrene (HIPS) production in Feluy, Belgium, by the end of the week, a company source said on Tuesday.

It had hoped to get the production line back on-stream at the end of last week.

Technical problems brought down the HIPS line in early October. PS production at Feluy runs at 160,000 tonnes/year, split evenly between general purpose polystyrene (GPPS) and HIPS.

GPPS was not affected by production issues.

Major European PS producers include BASF, INEOS NOVA, Dow and Total Petrochemicals.
