Petrobras said mulling Peru deal with Braskem

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Latin America’s largest petrochemical producer Braskem could join with Petrobras in talks to invest in Peru, according to a Brazilian state media report on Thursday.

State-run Petrobras has been seeking opportunities related to petrochemicals in South America, especially in Peru, company officials told ICIS in November.

Petrobras has viability studies underway for a gas development project in the Camisea field of southern Peru with state-run Petroperu. According to a report by the Agencia Brasil newswire, Petrobras international director Nestor Cervero said the project could include Braskem.

Peru is one of the top regions for new investment in petrochemicals in Latin America, analysts said.
