SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Saudi Arabia’s PetroRabigh plans to bring its 700,000 tonne/year monoethylene glycol (MEG) project on stream in early October, a company source said on Monday.

“The startup is for [early] October, and generally things are running smoothly now towards the start-up date,” said the source. Previously, the start-up was given as the third quarter of 2008.

PetroRabigh’s plant is located on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia.

The company, a joint venture between Japan’s Sumitomo Chemical and Saudi oil company Aramco, will also operate a cracker, polyolefins and propylene oxide (PO) plants at the same site.
