SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Taiwan Polypropylene (PP) plans to shut its 400,000 tonne/year plant at Kaohsiung around 16 January for turnaround, a company source said on Monday.

The plant would be shut for around one week, the source said.

The producer receives part of its propylene feedstock from state-run CPC Corp and its feedstock supply had not been affected by the fire at one of CPC’s crackers, he said.

“The indication we are getting now is that the fire affected only CPC’s chemical grade propylene, but not its polymer grade propylene,” he said.

“We are monitoring the situation for any possible impact,” he added.

State-run CPC Corp’s No 5 fluid catalytic cracker caught fire over the weekend due to pipe leakage, according to local media reports.
