LONDON (ICIS news)--Strike action planned by the German train driver's union for Monday has been cancelled after it made headway on contract talks with rail carrier Deutsche Bahn (DB).
Discussions on the new wage contract would be held on 8 January with a view to reaching an agreement before 31 January, the union Gewerkschaft Deutscher Lokfuhrer (GDL) said in a statement.
There were still some crucial points to overcome including issues regarding working hours, GDL added.
Workers held strikes in November, which crippled the network and caused logistical problems for industry.
