LONDON (ICIS news)--Leading potash supplier Kali and Salz (K+S) has announced a new granular MOP (muriate of potash) price of €320/tonne ($471/tonne) effective immediately amid continued strong demand and tight supply, a company official said on Wednesday.

This price represents a €30/tonne rise over the previous price of €290/tonne CIF (cost, insurance, freight) NWE (northwest Europe) which was set in late November.

The price will remain in place until further notice, the company official said.

Other suppliers had already indicated that prices of €315-320/tonne CIF were likely to be seen in January/February.

Granular MOP prices have risen strongly over the past six months on the back of tight supply, strong demand and high freight and energy costs.

Prices were in the low-€190s/tonne CIF NWE in June, according to ICIS pricing.
