LONDON (ICIS news)--Leading potash supplier Kali and Salz (K+S) has announced a new granular MOP (muriate of potash) price of €320/tonne ($471/tonne) effective immediately amid continued strong demand and tight supply, a company official said on Wednesday.

This price represents a €30/tonne rise over the previous price of €290/tonne CIF (cost, insurance, freight) NWE (northwest ?xml:namespace>
The price will remain in place until further notice, the company official said.
Other suppliers had already indicated that prices of €315-320/tonne CIF were likely to be seen in January/February.
Granular MOP prices have risen strongly over the past six months on the back of tight supply, strong demand and high freight and energy costs.
Prices were in the low-€190s/tonne CIF NWE in June, according to ICIS pricing.
