SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--JBF-RAK, the United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based polyethylene terephthalate (PET) producer, will begin production of film chips in March, a source from parent company JBF Industry Ltd said on Friday.

“We are installing the PET film chip plants right now. Once production begins in March, the facility will produce 200 tonnes of film grade chips daily,” the JBF executive said.

The PET film chip line was earlier slated to start in December but was delayed due to technical reasons, he added.

Located in Ras Al Khaimah, the PET plant currently produces 600 tonnes of PET bottle chips daily.

JBF-RAK is a joint venture between JBF, a major polyester producer in India and government-controlled Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority (RAKIA).
