The new facility would be built at the site of an existing urea plant in Tedjen and was expected to produce 650,000 tonnes/year of urea and 400,000 tonnes/year of ammonia, it added.
No financial details were disclosed.
The Tedjen urea plant began operating in March 2005 and had a capacity of 350,000 tonnes/year.
