Mitsubishi Chem plans work on Japan BPA units

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Mitsubishi Chemical Corp will shut its bisphenol-A (BPA) production facilities at Kashima and Kurozaki in Japan, for maintenance in June and October, a company official said late on Tuesday.

The 100,000 tonne/year Kashima plant will be shut in late May till early July, in tandem with the shutdown at its upstream phenol-acetone plant at the same site, the official said.

The 120,000 tonne/year Kurozaki production facility is scheduled to be shut for approximately one month in October, he added.

Other BPA majors in Asia include Kumho P&B, LG Chem, Nippon Steel and Nan Ya Plastics.
