HOUSTON (ICIS news)--A fire broke out at a building at BASF's pigments plant in Louisville, Kentucky, the company said on Tuesday.

The fire started at about 10 am Eastern time (1500 GMT) at a spin-flash dryer, said John Schmidt, BASF spokesman.

The fire was contained in one building but had not been extinguished as of 2:30 pm Eastern time (19:30 GMT)

Witnesses said there were three explosions connected to the fire, Schmidt said.

Employees were evacuated from the site, he said. No one was injured.
