HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Total Petrochemicals USA has combined its polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) businesses into a single unit, the company said on Wednesday.
The Polyolefins Business Unit was made effective on 1 January, the company said.
Total said it owns and operates a 900m lb/year (408,237 tonne/year) high-density PE (HDPE) plant in
Total also owns and operates a 2.35bn/lb year PP plant in
“Operating these two key businesses under one banner gives us greater flexibility in meeting the market needs,” said Total Petrochemicals USA President and CEO Bernard Claude. “Combining our polypropylene and polyethylene operations into a single Polyolefins Business Unit more closely aligns us with Total Petrochemicals international business.”
Company spokesman Rick Hagar said the new alignment will not result in an employee reduction. Houston-based Total Petrochemicals USA employs more than 1,600 in the
Bill Campbell, currently Total’s vice president of polyethylene, will become the vice president of polyolefins.
Scott McEwen, currently vice president of polypropylene, will become executive vice president and joint representative director of Samsung Total Petrochemicals, effective on 1 February.
