LONDON (ICIS news)--German oxo-alcohols producer Oxea will shut down its 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) plant in Oberhausen on 7-8 February for a turnaround, a company source said on Friday.

A full shutdown will occur for technical repairs at the 320,000 tonne/year plant, the source said.

“In total, we may lose around 3,000 to 3,500 tonnes of production over about 10 days” the source said, as rates would be reduced for a few days prior to and after the shutdown.

Downstream dioctyl phthalate (DOP) production should not be affected by the outage, as the company’s current 2-EH stock situation was described as “comfortable” by the source.

Other major European oxo-alcohols producers include Arkema, BASF, Exxon, INEOS, Oxeno and Perstrop.
