LONDON (ICIS news)--Arkema plans to reorganise its polyamides plant in Serquigny, France, to enhance its productivity making 49 people redundant and investing €13m ($19m) in the manufacture of new generation products, the French chemicals company said on Friday.

Arkema would invest in the production of a new generation of technical polymers, it said.

The redundancies were subject to the preliminary legal consultation process with the trade unions, the company said.

“The plan is part of the ongoing progress initiatives undertaken over the last 18 months in the polyamide activity to optimise the organisation of industrial sites, reduce structural costs, rationalise production and develop best product lines,” the company added.
