Jordan's Arab Potash raises output 5.7% in 2007

LONDON (ICIS news)--Arab Potash Co (APC) produced 1.797m tonnes of potash in 2007, an increase of 5.7% over the 1.699m tonnes produced in 2006 on growing export sales demand, the Jordan producer said on Monday.

Total sales increased by 13.4% to 1.856m tonnes in 2007 from 1.636m tonnes in 2006.

Of that total, export sales accounted for 1.675m tonnes, representing an increase of 15.6% from the 1.450m tonnes exported in 2006, the company said.

Domestic sales, meanwhile, declined slightly to 180,345 tonnes in 2007 from 186,855 tonnes in 2006.

APC is a major producer of potash and exports to markets globally including China, India, southeast Asia and Europe.
