LONDON (ICIS news)--National Petrochemical Co (NPC) restarted its 1.65m tonne/year Zagros methanol plant over the weekend as planned, a company source said on Monday.

The plant had shut due to a feedstock natural gas shortage on Saturday 19 January.

The company’s other 1m tonne/year methanol unit in Fanavaran, Bandar Imam, remained shut following a gas supply shortage and there has been no further information about a restart date.

Iran is facing its harshest winter in nearly 17 years and natural gas has been diverted for domestic use.

Despite the shutdowns, there was ample inventory and the company’s contract shipments had not been affected, a source said previously.
