HOUSTON (ICIS news)--The US February benzene contract settled for a gain of 9 cents from January levels, trade sources confirmed on Thursday.
The contract settled at $3.54/gal ($1,062/tonne) FOB (free on board). The increase, based on volatile energy prices, rising benzene spot prices, and an expected jump in demand, was in line with producer expectations.
US benzene producers nominated February increases of 15-30 cents above the January contract settlement of $3.45/gal.
