LONDON (ICIS news)--A third February styrene barge contract price was settled on Thursday at €1,073/tonne ($1,592/tonne), a major producer and consumer said on Friday.

The parties involved in the third contract number of €1,073/tonne FD (free delivered) barge NWE (Northwest Europe) had failed to reach an agreement in January, therefore it was impossible to comment on the extent of the price increase.

Although the third contract price was confirmed in the market on Friday, both parties involved said that negotiations had actually been concluded on Thursday.

“We did something on Thursday,” the consumer said. “We have concluded and a styrene price existed yesterday.”

Two other styrene barge contracts were agreed on Friday at €1,075/tonne and €1,038/tonne FD NWE.

These settlements in turn followed the February benzene contract which was agreed on Thursday at €737/tonne FOB (free on board) NWE, up €35/tonne on January.
