LONDON (ICIS news)--Perstorp has completed the acquisition of Solvay’s Warrington, UK-based caprolactone business, the Swedish company said on Monday.

Perstorp said it planned to double the capacity of the business and increase production of downstream derivatives to meet strong demand growth from all major applications.

“Basic engineering activities related to the capacity expansion will be initiated immediately, with the objective to have these completed during the second quarter of 2008,” said managing director of Perstorp UK Marten Olausson.

The new capacity at the northwest England plant was expected to be on stream in the first half of 2010, he added.

The business had sales of €60m ($89m) in global sales in 2006, employing 65 people. Its products are used in applications such as support material for shoes, coatings for the auto, marine and aerospace industries and hot melt adhesives.
